Little light, shining bright Face is like the warming of the sun At the height of sanity, before the age of vanity When the worries of life Couldn’t keep you on the run Long before life became so complicated Long before all your friends just upped and went astray Little light, shining bright I’ve been watching every step of your way Night turns to day, alone in this cafe Watching all the people walking by In the need to take time out Re-align what your life is all about Keep your ears open to that inner cry You don’t really want to make yourself a burden So you settle for less than what you really need Looking for a sign of danger, you become a stranger To protect the wound that bleeds Somewhere on the way, gonna have to realise ( first sight, morning light ) You could be the one to pay When people see right through that thin disguise But if no-one really knows the things that move your heart How can they know what you feel Comes a time when you get tired of playing the part So here’s something real, here’s something real Summer days, like a breeze coming off the bay Isn’t it true that the simple things are wise How you love those familiar faces Keep you going through your paces Growing up before your very eyes Pretty soon the old ways get forgotten What stays true; faith, hope and love Everywhere we’re walking, history keeps talking Even through the stars above Even through the stars above Somewhere on the way, gonna have to realise ( first sight, morning light ) You could be the one to pay When people see right through that thin disguise But if no-one really knows the things that move your heart How can they know what you feel Comes a time when you get tired of playing the part So here’s something real, here’s something real

Lately I’ve been wandering Raking over leaves of the lost and forgotten years Tryin’ to put the pieces back together again Only leads to frustration and to tears The things that were left unsaid The penny will drop on the stony street But there’s a battle inside your head To unbind your hands and unshackle your feet If only you could see the other side of the story Not just the one from this point of view If only you could zoom out on it all Then surely you would see that the sun’s Still shining down on you There’s a record that keeps playing Same old tune going round and round in my brain And I just can’t work out what it’s saying It’s getting stuck within the groove and within the grain To turn one-eighty degrees And look the world right in the eye But the wind it shapes the seas And gravity pulls on the weightless sky If only you could see the other side of the story Not just the one from this point of view If only you could zoom out on it all Then surely you would see that the sun’s Still shining down on you So take it easy on yourself You know you worry too much Well it never really got you very far before An imperfect soul in a lost and lonely world You’re so loved despite your failings and your flaws But this is what’s going down It’s just two steps forward, one step back So much more in life to be found Than a one-track mind on a one-man track If only you could see the other side of the story Not just the one from this point of view If only you could zoom out on it all Then surely you would see that the sun’s Still shining down on you

Something’s gotta give Faith is stirring, wheels are whirring deep inside Something’s gotta give Faith is stirring, wheels are whirring deep inside Voice is calling out, ears are burning Stomach churning, turning tide Something’s gotta give Faith is stirring, wheels are whirring deep inside Something’s gotta give Faith is stirring, wheels are whirring deep inside Gotta let it out, gotta speak it Gotta speak it from the heart Something’s gotta give Faith is stirring, wheels are whirring deep inside Looking from the edge Tryin’ to see that part of me that’s out of sight Looking from the edge Tryin’ to see that part of me that’s out of sight Wind is blowing, stars are glowing clouds are flowing through the night Looking from the edge Tryin’ to see that part of me that’s out of sight Looking from the edge Tryin’ to see that part of me that’s out of sight Banish fear and doubt, help is coming Help is coming from the Light Raise the ceiling, lower the floor You know your heart was made to take in so much more Feel the sunshine through your polar veins Now you’ve found your compass north And your two feet again Raise the ceiling, lower the floor You know your heart was made to take in so much more Feel the sunshine through your polar veins Now you’ve found your compass north And your two feet again

Virtual Fool 04:33
Just another breakdown, too much information When the shape goes all pear, there’s just nobody to blame Aimlessness seems to go hand in hand with complication You can reach for the stars, or just google your name But who can find a place in your imaginary world Wouldn’t it be great... Just to open the door, see that smile on your face It’s been a long time since you were here in this place You search far and wide to be satisfied Looks like nobody’s home Just a virtual fool on the other side of the phone Turn the radio on, make some coffee Laundry’s done, now it’s starting to rain You remember a time growing up in the suburbs Friends would knock on the door You’d be playing again Kids o’ mine are doin’ fine just climbing up the walls Wouldn’t it be great... Just to open the door, see that smile on your face It’s been a long time since you were here in this place All that’s left is a house with no walls Photographs without any frames And a virtual fool playing by the rules of the game Hey there you in the zone I know that you’re a long way from home And to this life you feel hard-wired Maybe there’s a war you could wage It’s just no good to bang and rattle the cage Find a place out of the race where you can feel inspired But who can find a place in your imaginary world Wouldn’t it be great... Just to open the door, see that smile on your face It’s been a long time since you were here in this place You search far and wide to be satisfied Looks like nobody’s home Just a virtual fool on the other side of the phone

Wilderness 05:23
Welcome to the hinterland of classic modern dreams The churning wheels of industry, the bursting of the seams Ever-shrinking borders to follow higher orders Till they’re gone As the wilderness takes its toll on you You’ve come to doubt the things you’ve seen Like distant hills or flowing fields Or shades of verdant green Chasing after visions, plagued by indecision Till they fade And the rain came falling down Oh how I longed for, longed for something deep inside It came falling to the ground I could hear the sounds of life return Where all had said that river died You can re-design the model, polish up and sell the brand But it’s hard to re-create yourself Unless Someone unties your hands While the precious beating heart of the things you love Fade away in this never-land So far, so wide...after all the tears you cried Falling down on the desert sand As our eyes become accustomed to the flicker of the screen Shady deals and spinning wheels and sweet suburban dreams So it kind of makes you wonder At the distant sound of thunder from the sky From the sky, from the sky And the rain came falling down Oh how I longed for, longed for something deep inside It came falling to the ground I could hear the sounds of life return Where all had said that river died You can re-design the model, polish up and sell the brand But it’s hard to re-create yourself Unless Someone unties your hands While the precious beating heart of the things you love Fade away in this never-land So far, so wide...feels like manna from the sky Falling down on the desert sand

There’s a buzz in the night as they go through their paces The footsteps are distant, I can imagine their faces Am I talking aloud, my thoughts are they my own Oh little spider, so close to the window Turn me around, ‘cause I can’t see anyone Not even a sound, I might have touched someone There must be a way to get outside of the grid Cut down to size, there’s a piece for everyone Take off the disguise, you might see someone But I didn’t do the things they say that I did So many people are walking the streets They can’t hear the cry from under their feet The staircase goes up, right up to the clouds Oh man of this age, you’re still talking aloud Turn me around, ‘cause I can’t see anyone Not even a sound, I might have touched someone There must be a way to get outside of the grid Cut down to size, there’s a piece for everyone Take off the disguise, you might see someone But I didn’t do the things they say that I did Higher and higher did the rushing river rise Flooding the memories and the past before our eyes Deeper and deeper, where the sun refused to shine Familiar things that I held onto before Like debris that’s been tossed around And washed up on the shore The valley soaks up what the mountain is crying Tears falling down, the leaflets come flying I’m running again, my shadow behind me It’s the shape of a hound And it knows where to find me Turn me around, ‘cause I can’t see anyone Not even a sound, I might have touched someone There must be a way to get outside of the grid Cut down to size, there’s a piece for everyone Take off the disguise, you might see someone But I didn’t do the things they say that I did

You work so hard tryin’ to chase a dream The more you take the more it breaks Starts tearing at the seams And a fine line is drawn between a myth and reality And time that was spent, when looking through the years Was all so heaven sent, no need for doubt and fear` Now you close your eyes to block out the mid-day sun You really can’t remember how this crazy race begun And time like a thief seems to slip right through your fingers There once was a boy that lived from day to day That used to enjoy the journey on the way So fix your eyes toward the light Put your feet back on the ground Wipe the dust off from your clothes There’s no need to turn around As the days stretch before your eyes What is lost can still be found The path we walk is seldom neat There may always be a taste of bittersweet The air you long to breathe was just too high and rarified The shadows of the past keep haunting you Keep on tearing you up inside Be released like a bird As you learn to forgive yourself again There once was a boy that dreamt that he could fly But it was simple trust and child-like faith That kept him falling from the sky So fix your eyes toward the light Put your feet back on the ground Wipe the dust off from your clothes There’s no need to turn around As the days stretch out before your eyes What is lost can still be found The path we walk is seldom neat There may always be a taste of bittersweet

She comes to the river, wrongly thinking that she is alone She looks at her reflection, sees a face that’s roughly carved from stone Her heart has been made hollow Ever since the one she loved was sent away Now she’d gladly give up everything To change the things that happened on that day Such a fool to take an arrow, aim it straight toward the heart What kept it all together is what tore it all apart Love can be a weapon that you use Against the ones who love you too much to refuse The earth it shakes, creatures hide away from the battle cry Wide open spaces with every hellish crime under the stars Would our eyes be open, if a vision started falling from the sky? Till we have faces, till we have faces...do we see you as You Are Legend speaks of a Queen who hides her face behind a veil That it’s one so beautiful whose radiance is way beyond the scale But there are many whispers that it’s covering a monster from within But a lie can circle half the world before the voice of truth can start to sing Wouldn’t it be cruel if you were only used for sport Like a fox that keeps on running but eventually gets caught Or do the angels know of a greater plan Like the Eyes that comb the earth for fallen man Till we have faces, till we have faces, till we have faces The earth it shakes, creatures hide away from the battle cry Wide open spaces with every hellish crime under the stars Would our eyes be open, if a vision started falling from the sky? Till we have faces, till we have faces...do we see you as You Are

In brighter days and bluer skies Simple ways and innocent eyes It’s an old cliché, but how time flies And here we are today Falling down, drying tears In thunder storms, calming fears Faithfulness through all the years Giving yourself away Looking up toward the good, The good that never ends Where age and circumstance have no play I can still see your smile The laughter in your eyes Like a little patch of blue on a cloudy day Icy drinks on summer days Preparing food as children play We just assumed it would be ok That nothing would really change Out from school, running late You were waiting at the gate Happy just to see your face Time and time again Looking up toward the good, The good that never ends Where age and circumstance have no play I can still see your smile The laughter in your eyes Those things of the heart that never fade away

about

One of the greatest pleasures growing up would be the purchase of full or double album records. That whole tactile experience of putting the vinyl on the turntable and listening to favourite bands or artists (while being absorbed in the artwork and lyrics on the cover and sleeve) had such a strong effect on me growing up. It has been a long-held ambition of mine to release what I feel is a more completed album (rather than simply tapes and CD’s shared with friends and family) and have it exposed to a wider audience. Personally this is for me both an exciting and scary prospect and in some ways a step of faith into the unknown.
At this moment I am working on and co-producing an instrumental album that incorporates visual landscapes with close friend and fellow musician Nate Hill which we are aiming to have released later this year...
If per-chance you would like a CD of Proximity Effect with jewel case and booklet please email your request to me.

about

Geoff Kerr Melbourne, Australia

I gained a love for song/writing and recording from the age of 12. My brother and I would spend hours writing and recording our songs on whatever we had available. Growing up I was in various bands playing either guitar or drums while singing. I got hooked on multi-track recording after buying a 4-track reel-to-reel, mixer and other equipment in my 20's. I have continued this journey ever-since :) ... more
